Exhibition of Vasyl Svyda’s works in Uzhgorod attracted a capacity crowd (PHOTOS)

On Tuesday, October 22, in the Regional Museum, there was the grand opening of the exhibition of works by People’s Artist of Ukraine, sculptor Vasyl Svyda.

Artistic activities that take place in the region these days are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous Transcarpathian sculptor Vasyl Svyda. It is worth noting that he was the first of Transcarpathians who was awarded the title of laureate of the State TG Shevchenko Prize.

In the exhibition halls of the Regional Museum, they are exhibiting works of the outstanding Transcarpathian that are stored in private collections – the collection of Vasyl Svyda’s son, Yaroslav, and in Kyiv Museum of Decorative Arts.

– Today, I want to thank all who contributed to the celebration of the anniversary. Those are community organizations, artists, Regional Administration and Regional Council. Thanks to all of you, we have managed to organize a large-scale celebration of this anniversary, bring Vasyl Svyda’s works from different parts of the country. There are many works that are exhibited for the first time. I am glad that art lovers can see such works as "And horses drink water", "Mother’s Kiss" – Yaroslav Svyda said.

As part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the sculptor, yesterday, there was also the opening of the memorial plaque to the famous Transcarpathian sculptor – the press-center of the RSA informed.
