EUROPEAN FOLK MUSIC! The Regional Philharmonic invites!

On May 5, Bright Easter week, the Ensemble of Soloists "Harmonia" of the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic invites to the concert program "European folk music". For this festive season, the ensemble prepared the best examples of folklore across Europe – bundles of Slovak and Hungarian folk songs, Irish ballads and Neapolitan songs, German and Moldovan dances, lezginka and a play in flamenco style. People’s Artist of Ukraine Petro Matiy, in addition to the famous "Santa Lucia" and his usual Slovak folklore will perform Belarusian "Song of an Old Bachelor" and Honored Artist of Ukraine Oksana Kharkhalis will perform Spanish folk songs. Oleksander Tovt will sing in Hungarian and French, and Miroslava Shvakh-Pekar – in Polish, Slovak, and will add to this European bouquet a Transcarpathian folk song "Oh, I know that I have a sin." Mykhailo Podkopaev expanded his repertoire with "Song of a Traveler" (Germany) and popular examples of the British and Irish folklore. The instrumental ensemble led by Anastasia Zhuzhhova, which traditionally accompanies our soloists, is preparing a whole international music block.

In today’s globalized world, the problem of coexistence of different cultures and the preservation of their local features is particularly relevant. The so-called ethnic renaissance is gaining popularity and is a kind of guardian of ancestral traditions in a colorful intercultural space. Each folk song, dance, tale contains history and identity of our ancestors. The new program of the Ensemble of Soloists "Harmonia" of the Transcarpathian Regional Philharmonic will call you into the magical world of multiethnic Europe folk art. The concert starts at 18.30. The event will be hosted by the music historian Natalia Pitsur.
