“Elusive” Transcarpathian thief was arrested in Kyiv region

6 years imprisonment – such a punishment my be imposed on the previously convicted 20-year-old resident of Mukachevo, which was arrested for theft by officers of Criminal Investigation department. The guy was stealing anything that he could see in the houses: money, bank cards, gold jewelry, audio and video equipment, mobile phones, musical instruments, weapons …
It took a month of the hard work for Mukachevo investigators to get on the trail of the offender who had been robbing residents of Mukachevo.  "We were concerned about such a number of crimes – says lieutenant colonel Yaroslav Tovkan, Chief of the Criminal Investigation Sector of Mukachevo City Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, – It was clear that the crimes were committed by a local resident, who already had experience in such matters. However, the offender was so cautious that for a long time did not leave any clues for police officers"
Investigators of the Mukachevo police department detained the thief in the city of Irpin in Kyiv region. As it turned out the guy wanted to go abroad. He confessed that he had committed the crimes. He told that he had been preparing for thefts in advance. He was stealing everything he saw.   The reason for his crimes was simple – unwillingness to work.
According to the police, the guy committed at least 14 episodes of criminal activity. A detention has been imposed as the preventive measure for the suspect. The criminal case under Part 3 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft) has been instituted, which provides for punishment of imprisonment for a term of three to six years – informed Yevheniya Krasylynets of Mukachevo City Police Department.
