Elections can be held even during a state of emergency – CEC

Presidential elections, scheduled in Ukraine for May 25, may be held even during a state of emergency in some regions.

This was said on the Public Radio by the deputy head of the CEC Andriy Mahera.

"In such a case, voting as such would be unlikely at individual polling stations. And in terms of the law on presidential elections in Ukraine, the election results are determined regardless of the number of polling stations or the number of constituencies where the election has not been held," – he explained.

Mahera said that this election is very important because its results will remove any claims as to the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government.
