The Romanian police and the prosecutor’s office confirmed the information and initiated a criminal case.

According to some Romanian media, the helicopter was made in Russia. It is possibly a Ka-26 intended for civilian use, in particular, for crop spraying.

The helicopter had no registration signs and crossed the Romanian border illegally. Most likely, the helicopter transported contraband cigarettes, although no tobacco products were found at the crash site.

Also, a corpse of a man, who, most likely, was a pilot, was found. According to the sources in law enforcement, the corpse was already at the stage of decomposition. Therefore, law enforcement officers concluded that the accident had occurred 2-3 weeks ago. According to the preliminary version, the helicopter was flying very low to avoid being noticed by the border guards, hit the trees and crashed.

In addition, according to Romanian journalists, the deceased could be a citizen of Belarus, a resident of Minsk – Dmitry K. born in 1971, who arrived in Lviv on March 5, and from there went to Mukachevo, where he disappeared.
