Today, February 19th, the Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup of Ukraine was solemnly opened in Uzhgorod. As uzhgorod.in previously reported, such competition in this sport is held in Transcarpathia for the first time.
After a brief program with participation of Transcarpathian folk bands, the competition was opened by the chairman of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Albina Deryugina, the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda, the Mayor of Uzhgorod Victor Pogorelov..
"I am pleased that a competition of such a high level is held in Transcarpathia for the first time" – Oleksandr Ledyda addressed to the participants and spectators. – Especially now, when Transcarpathian gymnasts begin to show better results."
"I am glad to welcome all the guests at this celebration of spring and beauty – Albina Deryugina continued. – It’s nice that this time the competition is held in Uzhgorod." Albina Deryugina reminded the girls that this tournament is the first in the new Olympic cycle. So, it is of a special importance. Therefore, all participants must do their best.
In total, about three hundred athletes from all regions of Ukraine take part in the competition. The tournament will continue till February 22.
