Yesterday, April 28, in a cafe in Svalyava, prosecutors of Transcarpathian region together with officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the deputy chief of Svalyava district police department when he was receiving 2,400 UAH of undue benefit.
According to the head of the investigation department of the regional prosecution office Ivan Bitlyan, the police officer received the money from a Transcarpathian for assistance in issuance of a permit for purchase and possession of weapons.
Criminal proceedings over this fact has been initiated under Part 3 of Art.368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving undue benefits). The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years imprisonment with confiscation
Currently, the primary investigative activities continue, the pre-trial restraint against the police officer is being determined.
