Defending the honor of his son, a man nearly lost his life

In the evening on Sunday, the regional hospital reported to Uzhgorod district police department about the patient, who had been delivered there with a chopped head wound.

The police officers could not talk to the victim, a 55-year-old Istvan, because he was in serious condition. So, the investigative team went to the border village where the man lived. The police talked to friends and neighbors, and soon had the information about events that could have led to a tragic end…

On that day Istvan, as every Sunday, went to church. Returning, he met a neighbor and his relative who had come to visit him. The men asked Istvan to join the company.   

During the conversation, they recalled a 41-year-old local resident, Valentin, who was harvesting scrap. There were talks in the village that the man complained that Istvan’s 27-year-old son Carlo had stolen several metal structures from him. He threatened to revenge for this. Istvan did not like this information because he was sure that his son is not able to steal anything.    So, he decided right away to talk to Valentin and went to his place.

There, the unexpected visitor immediately went on the offensive, saying: why are you, bastard, spreading false rumors in the village?   After a verbal altercation, a quarrel broke out. Valentin went inside the house, Istvan followed him. In a moment, the owner came back with an ax in his hands. He swang the dangerous tool over the head of the uninvited guest, and a moment later, Istvan went outside with bloody head. All that really astounded the owner of the house, he threw away his ax and called an ambulance. Soon, the victim was taken to Chop. As the wound was dangerous, the patient had to be taken to the regional clinical hospital where he was given expert help in neurosurgical department.

Istvan is now under the care of doctors, his opponent is in a temporary holding facility. His further fate will be decided by court. The criminal proceeding over this case has been initiated, pre-trial investigation on the grounds of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine continues. The villager is charged with attempted murder – Mykhailo PYSKACH, the "Vidomosti Militsiyi" reported.
