Dedicated to Yuriy Illienko: the classic of Ukrainian poetic cinema will be remembered in Uzhgorod (Announcement)

Tomorrow, September 16, in the hall of Uzhgorod College of Culture and Arts, there will be a meeting in memory of Yuriy Illienko – in honor of the 80th anniversary of the artist, as well as on the occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Cinema that was celebrated on Saturday, the Department of Culture of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration informs.

Yuriy Illienko (1936-2010) is a known figure in the national cinema. He gained the first notable recognition in this industry as a cinematographer, working on the set of the legendary film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors". This introduction to high art defined the future of the talented director and screenwriter.

Yuriy Illienko wrote almost fifty screenplays. In particular, the script for the Ukrainian poetic movie based on the drama of Lesya Ukrainka "Forest Song. Nymph," a retrospective screening of which will be held tomorrow.

The beginning is at 12.00. The admission is free.

The meeting and screening is organized by the Transcarpathian regional organizational and methodical center of culture together with Uzhgorod College of Culture and Arts with the support of the Department of Culture of the RSA.
