Czech exhibition dedicated to truly brave people has opened in the “Owl’s Nest”

A lot of interesting events are already taking place in Uzhgorod ahead of the celebration of the City Day. Yesterday, on Thursday, September 12, the "Owl’s Nest" complex was the center of the city cultural life.

The first significant event was the opening of the thematic exhibition "For Your and Our Freedom 1968-2018" presented by the Czech Center at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ukraine on the occasion of the opening of its representative office in Uzhgorod.

Each of the more than two dozen posters features life stories of people who, 50 years ago, dared to protest the Soviet Union’s aggression against peaceful Czechoslovakia, known as the suppression of the Prague Spring. They all were subjected to repression by the communist governments of their countries. One of them was Roman Hrynyo from Uzhgorod, who was not afraid to raise his voice in defense of the occupied neighboring country.

The director of the Czech Center in Kyiv Lucia Rzegorzikova told about the activities of the organization and plans of the Center regarding the work in the regional center of Transcarpathia. Thus, now the Transcarpathians have the opportunity to learn Czech at certified courses.

“The Czech Center is the representative office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, which is present in most European countries. I would like to thank Uzhgorod City Council and the Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv for kindly providing us with the space for our presentation,” – Lyubov Pavlyshyna, the coordinator of the Czech Center office in Uzhgorod, said.

Visitors will be able to see the exhibits for two weeks.
