Crimean children are already getting accustomed to Transcarpathian schools

Children of relocatees are being enrolled in the educational institutions of the city, and UzhNU will accept two dozen students from the East and South

Settlers, who have chosen to stay in Uzhgorod due to recent developments in Ukraine, are actively looking for kindergartens and schools for their children.

People not only from Crimea but also from other Ukrainian regions have recently moved to Uzhgorod. Those are mainly military families.

At present it is difficult to say exactly how many children of relocatees will be studying in Uzhgorod educational institutions. Oksana Babunych, the Head of Education Department of Uzhgorod City Council explains that not all parents have yet decided which institution will be best suited to their children.

Currently, two children from the same family are enrolled to the kindergarten № 21. Also, a woman, a native of Uzhgorod, who lived with her military husband in another region, has appealed to the Department of Education.     She is looking for a kindergarten.

UzhNU will also receive new students. Earlier it was reported that 12 students, who studied in the Crimean universities, had appealed to the Uzhgorod University. All of them are Transcarpathians.

Now about two dozen students from Odessa, Kherson and Donetsk universities have joined them – the vice rector Fedir Shandor said. All of them are natives of the regions where they were studying. But their parents, worrying because of the proximity to the border with Russia, asked to transfer children to Uzhgorod. Now they are being registered, checked in dormitories.

"The procedure of transferring is simplified – Fedir Shandor said. – In fact, it is enough to write an application. If a student’s training was funded by the state, we send a letter to Kyiv reguesting to keep state funding for them. If a student was studying under the contract, then even that is not needed."
