State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in close cooperation with European law enforcement agencies of the countries bordering with Ukraine continues to take operational measures to counter illegal activities at the state border. One of the latest example of this cooperation is this detention in Transcarpathia, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine informs. Yesterday, border guards of the Mukachevo Detachment together with Romanian colleagues prevented an attempt of cross-border trafficking of tobacco products.
Thus, while patrolling the border, border patrol of the department "Solotvyno" detained a man in a diving suit just as he was coming out of the Tisa river. The swimmer had no documents on him, but admitted that he was a citizen of Ukraine. Our border guards immediately informed their Romanian colleagues about the detention. As a result, they detained a citizen of Romania who probably was engaged in smuggling of contraband cigarettes together with our compatriot. Also they found a vehicle, using which the offenders were planning to transport the contraband tobacco, and 8 packages of tobacco products.
