City utilities have no money to pay for supplies

City utilities work, hoping that sooner or later, they will receive the money

City utilities complain that it is very difficult to keep the city in a more or less good condition. The reason is lack of funds. They have debts to many suppliers since last year. And they already need to purchase the necessary materials for this year.

As part of the improvement month, the utilities are now cleaning the streets, began to mow grass and weeds, check the readiness of fountains and inspect approaches to city churches. On the eve of Easter, they have to ensure lighting.

They work mostly on enthusiasm and hope for a better future. At least such a conclusion can be made after a conversation with the Head of the Housing and Communal Services Department Oleksandr Kostenchuk. They are sorely lacking funds and cannot pay for provided services as well as fuel.   

As for the fountains, currently, utilities have checked the readiness of three of them – near the Statistical Department, in the park near the Security Service of Ukraine and in the rock garden. Bowls are cleaned and fountains are ready to run. They only need to enter into a contract with the "Vodokanal" for the provision of services. Mr. Oleksandr said that they should be launched by Easter.

The issue of street lighting also needs to be solved. The City Council also has debts to the company that caters to street lighting in Uzhgorod.  But our interviewee assures: on Easter, people will not be blessing bread in the dark.

And so, they have to wait and hope that sooner or later the funding will be provided.
