Winter holidays have started in Uzhgorod . New Year and Christmas period started on the sixth of December – when the Saint Nicholas Day is celebrated according to the traditions of the Western Rite.
The Christmas tree was set on Petofi Square – this is a new place for it in Uzhgorod. This is how the city authorities decided to use this area this year.
In addition to traditional ones, the Christmas tree has original decorations. More precisely, the nearby area is decorated differently. For the first time in the city they made compositions of sweets – gingerbread houses represent major holidays: St. Nicholas Day, Christmas and New Year
This is the first Cgristmas tree in the country. Uzhgorod, traditionally, launches the celebration of the winter holidays in Ukraine.
