Caves in the Uzhgorod castle (PHOTOS)

Pictures of fabulous caves in the Carpathian region, selected for the exhibition, which has opened in Uzhgorod castle, were made during the past 5 years. The photographer from Slovakia Pavol Kochish spent over 4-6 hours for each of them.

The photos, presented at the exhibition, reflect internal "decoration" of caves in Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

"To make one picture, I need at least four hours and assistants: to bring all the equipment to the cave, to properly set the light, to choose a location. We co-operate with our Kosice caving organization, they issue permissions to go down into the cave, and they help to create pictures. If we go to Hungary or Romania, we preliminary contact local cavers who then also help us,"- the author Pavol Kochish said at the opening.

Some of the photographs presented in the exhibition can be called unique: they are made in the caves with the very limited access. For example, one of the caves in Romania during the whole year can be visited by only ten person. The maximum depth, which the photo-artist with the team had to work at, is over 300 m

To capture high-quality material, sometimes Pavol Kochish with the team stayed in the cave for a few days: they put a tent there, cooked food and made tea on gasoline stove, and distinguished day and night only by hours.

You can see the beauty of the caves in the Carpathian region, expertly captured by the Slovak photographer, over the next two weeks in Uzhgorod castle – the exhibition runs until August 23.
