Carpathians as you have never seen them before. An unusual exhibition about usual things was opened in Uzhgorod (PHOTO-REPORT)

To show the greatness, beauty, power and legends of the Carpathians by means of art, but as they have never been seen before. This is the aim of the exhibition "Lyrics of the Carpathians", which was opened this Friday, August 18, in the Ilko gallery.

It features the works of various masters with different artistic languages, and this variety of artistic tools emphasizes the idea of the exhibition. The curators have worded it as follows: "The idea of the exhibition is to rethink or support our mythology and to interpret it through the eyes of the artist." The "Lyrics of the Carpathians" is an exhibition of figurative art, and its subject is heroics, romance, mythology of the Carpathians. But here, they are different.

The exhibition was opened alongside another project, which is displayed in the Ilko Gallery: "Promka" – photos of Oles Krumplyas from the front. We wrote about it HERE.

We asked the owner of the gallery Mykhailo Ilko about this combination of such different topics. He says that in actuality they are not that different: "War in the Carpathians is a permanent thing. And the war in the East is also our war, it is just a little further away from the Carpathians. But it is ours, and many people from our region are fighting there. And these two exhibitions, they are actually on the same topic: about the truth, about the heroism, about our state."

Visit the gallery to see both exhibitions!

The gallery is open: Tuesday-Saturday – from 11.00 to 21.00; Sunday – 12.00 to 19.00. Monday is a day off.
