Caring for the health of veterans of the Great Patriotic War – the Health Department

"In the Transcarpathian region, all veterans are covered with 100 percent clinical examination, that is they are registered with doctors based on a particular pathology. Most veterans suffer from chronic diseases, which are complicated by wounds and contusions received during the war. Therefore, for the purpose of illness prevention, appointment of early treatment and rehabilitation, medical examinations of this category of citizens are held annually. In almost all hospitals there are comfortable rooms (total of 408 in the region) for veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Also in the region there is the Regional hospital for disabled veterans and liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, where there are 50 beds for veterans. In the hospital veterans have the opportunity to consult with specialists – cardiologist, surgeon, urologist, endocrinologist, ophthalmologist, dentist, otolaryngologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, gynecologist, dermatologist. In the dental office of the hospital, they provide emergency dental care to patients. Last year, 512 war veterans were treated in the hospital"- the chief specialist of the health care organization division of the Health Care Department of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Emiliya Wenger said.
