Yesterday, in Transcarpathia, border guards of Ukraine and Romania, as a result of joint actions, prevented an attempt of illegal cross-border transportation of a large amount of tobacco products. It should be noted that this section of the border was recently reinforced by rapid response units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine with appropriate equipment and technical means, which greatly increased the efficiency of anti-smuggling activities.
Another positive result was achieved as a result of prompt exchange of information with the law enforcement agencies of the neighboring state and joint actions. As a result, 18 packages of cigarettes were found on both banks of the Tisa River – 14 in Romania and 4 on our side.
Currently, the measures are being taken to establish the circle of people involved in illegal activity at the border.
