Border guards detained two cigarette smugglers in Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)

An attempt to move contraband cigarettes to Hungary was thwarted by border guards during a special border operation in Transcarpathia. 
This morning, officers of the operational unit, in conjunction with military personnel of the mobile border guard unit "Dozor", detained two Ukrainians trying to move 1450 packs of cigarettes across the border.
The offenders were planning to illegally cross the border near the settlement of Velyka Palad. They were detained by border guards 500 meters from the border. The men tried to run away via frozen fields. However, they failed. The border guards had to make warning shots in the air, after which the offenders stopped.
The detainees were taken to the border guard unit, and at present reports on the administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 204-1 of the CAO have been drawn up. The case was forwarded to court. The tobacco products will be handed over to officers of the SFS in Transcarpathian region, the Press Service of the Mukachevo Border Guard Detachment reported.
