Bicycle parking for 12 bicycles was opened on Fedynets street (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

This Friday, on the day of the monthly city bicycle race Night Ride, dedicated this year’s regatta and the support of the Army of Ukraine, several items of bicycle infrastructure were opened in Uzhgorod.

We have already wrote about one of them. This is the first in Ukraine cycling cafe that was opened in the "Mustard Seed" Lane. The second facility is a bicycle parking for 12 bicycles, which is located in front of the same lane on Fedynets street.

Made by the same blacksmith master, the teacher of the Art Institute Oleg Putrashyk, the bicycle parking fits into the urban landscape so well, that it is unnoticable at first glance. On the outside, it’s just 6 forged U-shaped columns along the sidewalk. However, two bikes can be "chained" to each of them. So, it is a parking for 12 bicyles, which is a lot for Uzhgorod.

To make the parking more noticeable, it is marked with the first in Uzhgorod "Bicycle parking" sign and indicated on the city’s bicycle infrastructure map, which will be released soon.

The opening ceremony was very crowded and solemn. All of the Night Ride was there. On Fedynets street, there was a pit stop, during which volunteers of the "Support Transcarpathian soldiers" movement were selling gifts to support Ukrainian army: badges, magnets, key chains, bracelets, as well as sweets from Valentin Shtefanyo and the water under the brand "Tears of a separatist" with symbols, designed by the famous Transcarpathian designer Oleg Olashyn.

One of the cofounders of cycling movement in Uzhgorod Vita Munchak helped to open the parking. To support the activists and cyclists, the Deputy Mayor of Uzhgorod Yaroslav Shafar came to the ceremony on his own bicycle.

PS The question, "Where’s the parking?" was repeated so often that we decided to show the location of the parking columns on the picture.
