Because of hidden “MARLBORO”, a Ukrainian lost a car costing almost 340,000 UAH

Yesterday, in the customs control area of the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian customs office, an attempted smuggling of tobacco products from Ukraine was prevented. A citizen of Ukraine tried to smuggle cigarettes in a car "MERCEDES-BENZ SPRINTER".

The citizen chose the "red corridor" for customs clearance and filled in the customs declaration. During the oral questioning, the citizen confirmed the information provided by him in the customs declaration, and denied carrying any other goods, including those prohibited or restricted for trasportation across the customs border of Ukraine.

Based on signs of presence of specially manufactured caches in the vehicle, customs officers decided to conduct an in-depth customs inspection. Thus, customs officers found in a special cache in the vehicle 239 packs of tobacco products "MARLBORO" with excise stamps of Ukraine, hidden from customs control.

Thus, the citizen of Ukraine committed acts aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control, ie using specially manufactured caches.

These actions contain signs of violation of customs regulations referred to in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, the goods, that are direct objects of the violation of customs regulations – the tobacco products (worth 7,170 UAH) and the vehicle worth almost 340,000 UAH – were seized until the court decision.
