Because of hidden cigarettes, Transcarpathian customs officers seized cars from a foreigner and a Ukrainian

On Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the customs posts "Maly Berezny" and "Koson", officers of the Transcarpathian Customs, together with the border guards, prevented an illegal export of tobacco products from Ukraine.

At the customs post "Maly Berezny", cigarettes were carried by a citizen of Poland in a car "Fiat Ducato" with foreign registration, and at the customs post "Koson" – by a citizen of Ukraine in a car "Mercedes-Benz" with Ukrainian registration.

The Pole was undergoing customs control in the "red corridor", and the Ukrainian – in the "green corridor".

During oral survey, the citizens said that they were not moving across the customs border of Ukraine any goods in amounts subject to a written declaration, hidden from customs control, subject to payment of tax or customs duties, or restrictions on transportation.

However, based on analysis and risk assessment, officers of the Transcarpathian customs office took the vehicles out of the general flow for customs inspection.

During the customs inspection of the "Fiat Ducato", the sniffer dog gave a signal, which was the grounds for an in-depth customs inspection. In a specially made cache, customs officials found hidden 1,083 packs of tobacco products "West" without excise stamps of Ukraine and "Rothmans" with excise stamps of Ukraine.

Meanwhile, during the customs inspection of the "Mercedes-Benz" and personal belongings of the citizen of Ukraine, customs officials found in caches 101 packs of cigarettes "Rothmans", "Bond" and "Philip Morris Novel Mix" with excise stamps of Ukraine.

The actions of both citizens contain signs of violation of customs regulations stipulated by Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

The reports on violation of customs rules was made, the vehicles and the cigarettes were seized until the court decision.
