Banks are losing reputation with Ukrainians

Reputation of banks among the population is deteriorating, which is proved by the study of the image of Ukrainian largest banks, conducted by the company GfK Ukraine.

Compared with last September, the reputation score of investigated banks in March has decreased from 3.77 to 3.56 points. The reduction applies to most of the 12 banks evaluated by the study. "The overall banks’ reputation drop can be attributed to the spread of rumors among the population about the possibility of a second wave of crisis, which reduces confidence in banks in general", according to the company.

Citizens are less willing to recommend banks to friends or relatives, the report says. GfK Ukraine said that when choosing a financial institution Ukrainians first of all consider the reliability of the bank and tariffs on products. This increases the value of a bank’s convenient location and duration of bank’s branches existence at the market. The study was conducted from March1 to 16. In its course 1,000 respondents aged 16 years were surveyed through personal interviews.
The questionnaire included 12 banks: Alpha Bank, VTB Bank, Erste Bank, Raiffeisen Bank Aval, PUMB, OTP Bank, Pravex Bank, PrivatBank, Ukreximbank, UkrSibbank, Ukrsotsbank and Universal Bank.
We remind that in the National Bank, on the contrary, they claim that more and more Ukrainians trust banks.
