Bach from “Cantus”, “Leopolis” and… heavy rain – in the Krupka building (PHOTO)

On June 15, in the lobby of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, there was a joint performance of the chamber choir "Cantus" and the orchestra "Leopolis" (Lviv).  The ovations were loud, and the musicians were accompanied by nature – right the middle of the concert, a heavy rain began that did not spoil the mood but made the event even more atmospheric.

The concert of works by Johann Sebastian Bach was devoted to the 330th anniversary of the brilliant composer, and the 130th anniversary of Frantisek Krupka – famous architect, who designed the Provincial Government Building in Uzhgorod (now – Transcarpathian RSA).

In addition to somewhat matching anniversaries, another reason for the concert "Bach in the Krupka building" was the fact that the works of the two artists are fairly well suited to each other: classical music requires special atmosphere, and the atrium of the Krupka building, according to musicologists and architects, is one of the most acoustically suitable for such performances. Not to mention the visual characteristics of the room that are very fitting to the greatness of music.

According to the director of the chamber choir "Cantus" Emil Sokach, he had been planning to organize such concert in this building for a very long time. "We know that under Frantisek Krupka’s project, important social events, concerts and other festive events with the participation of the governor were to take place in the atrium. For a while, they were. Now we want to revive this tradition."

The extraordinary event was attended by numerous representatives of the government and cultural elite of the region. The hall was crowded.

The concert also had a charitable purpose, boxes for donations were placed at the entrance to the lobby. The organizers will add the funds raised to charitable contributions made at the charity concert of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble that visited Uzhgorod about three weeks ago. All the funds will be used for the needs of the regional children’s hospital.
