Another “water park”?

The mayor said that the MU "Aquatic Center Uzh" had been established to… build the Water Palace.

Commenting on the regular plenary meering of the City Council, which took place on November 29, Uzhgorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv said that the new utility "Aquatic Center Uzh", which was established today, would deal with the matters necessary for the construction of the water sports palace.

There was such center in Simferopol, the mayor said. And the idea is to build its alternative in Uzhgorod. The Aquatic Center could host competitions of national and international level. He said that "active people" had appealed to him with this initiative.

"We must establish a utility company that will be the commissioner for the project. Then determine the estimates and appeal to deputies to provide the funds in the budget for next year. It will be a community property, built for public funds", – Andriyiv says.

But there is one important point. The land for the construction is to be allocated in the Bozdosh park. Recall that it was there where one of the notorious Uzhgorod mayors wanted to build a "water park", but never received environmental approval.

Despite the fact that, according to Andriyiv, "it is not a park zone", the territory belongs to the green areas of the city. So, Uzhgorod again will lose some of its greenery.
