At the customs post "Tisa", Transcarpathian customs officers exposed a carrier from Italy who was trying to import cosmetics into Ukraine without proper taxation under the guise of second-hand items.
Returning from EU countries across the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in a minibus Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a 34-year-old Ternopil resident in the "red corridor" stated in his declaration luggage with personal belongings (used clothes and shoes). He orally confirmed that he was not moving any goods subject to mandatory taxation.
But when the inspectors checked the contents of the luggage compartment of the car, they found among the personal belongings 4 cardboard boxes with undeclared cosmetics of foreign production.
The amount of goods was enough to draw up a report on violation of customs rules under Article 472 of the Customs Code of Ukraine and confiscate them. The final value of the cosmetics will be determined by an expert.
Thus, according to the court decision, the following goods were taken to the customs warehouse: house fragrances of the trademark "EDION" made in Italy in the amount of eighteen 500 ml flasks and the same amount of packages with sticks for fragrances; antiseptics (gels) of the same Italian brand in different quantities and packaging (20 pieces of 500 ml, 10 pieces of 1000 ml and 190 pieces of 100 ml).
The carrier told the customs officers that he was transporting the goods at the request of a stranger who asked to deliver them from Italy to Kyiv.
