Andriyiv and Ratushniak will take part in debates

In Uzhgorod Press Club, there was a meeting, the main theme of which was the next week’s televised debate between the candidates for the mayor of Uzhgorod Bogdan Andriyiv and Serhiy Ratushniak. Those candidates reached the second round of the elections to be held in Uzhgorod on 15 of November.

 A few days before the election, the candidates will take part in the debate on "Tisa-1" TV channel. Representatives of the organizations initiating this event told about this project. Those were Oleksandr Meryavchyk, presenter of the "Tisa-1" TV channel, Dmytro Tuzhansky, the head of the Transcarpathian regional branch of the CVU, Volodymyr Feskov, the coordinator of electoral programs of the OPORA in Transcarpathian region and Irina Breza, the head of Uzhgorod Press Club.

Dmytro Tuzhansky noted that these elections lack content. "The debate will be the basis of content – Dmytro Tuzhansky says. – This content will be negative and positive. I think we will hear about Galician or Mukachevo candidates, about chauvinists and racists, and on the other hand about the self-contained Uzhgorod, its potential for solving problems with recreational sphere, the master plan and the allocation of land and so on. This is my personal opinion. And the official position of the CVU is as follows: the Committee of Voters of Ukraine supports the debate in Uzhgorod, not only at the level of the regional branch, but also at the national organization. The CVU included Uzhgorod in the list of problematic locations, Uzhgorod will be closely followed, candidates should understand that. We hope that this debate will add content to these elections, which have been empty for the most part."

Volodymyr Feskov added that finally the candidates have the opportunity to go beyond the headlines, billboards, leaflets, and fairly ask questions to each other before the TV cameras.         

Oleksandr Meryavchyk told about the form and content of the project. "After the first round, there were talks that the public would like to see the candidates for the second round in debates.   We invite Serhiy Ratushniak and Bogdan Andriyiv to take part in the debate to be held on November 12 at 19.25, on "Tisa-1" channel", – Oleksandr Meryavchyk said.      

"I would like it to be a talk show, to see exchange of opinions, visions. They say that this post (the mayor) is for one and a half or two years. But it can set the tone for 10, 20, 50 years", – Oleksandr Meryavchyk said.
