Three Ukrainians created and maintained the most famous resource in Darknet "xDedic", the cyberpolice.gov.ua reported. This e-store provided an opportunity for its users to sell and buy access to "hacked" servers. The offenders have sold more than 70,000 passwords and remote access logins to servers from 170 countries.
On January 28, 2019, the Deputy Prosecutor General Evgeniy Yenin during a joint briefing with the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Serhiy Knyazev, informed that on Thursday, January 24, 2019, an international joint group, which included members of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, the National Police, as well as the Federal Computer Crime Unit (FCCU) of Belgium, with the assistance of Europol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States (FBI) and the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Tampa (FL) had conducted searches in nine locations in Ukraine.
During the searches, several IT systems were confiscated. Also three suspects were interrogated.
The specified searches were carried out within the framework of the investigation of criminal proceedings against the illegal online store "xDedic", which offered access to tens of thousands of compromised (hacked) servers (belonging to companies and individuals).
The price of each server ranged from six to over ten thousand dollars.
The American investigation against the online store "xDedic" was carried out by the United States Public Prosecutor’s Office in the Middle District of Florida.
On Thursday, January 24, 2019, access to "xDedic" was shut down in accordance with the decisions of the American court, and the components of the criminal infrastructure were confiscated. Users trying to access the "xDedic" domain will be redirected to a government page explaining why this online store has gone offline. The German police also provided assistance in confiscating and blocking of access.
