After nearly 20 years of talks, the project of the opening of the crossing point “Lubnia-Volosate” is becoming a reality

The meeting of the Coordination Council of the Cross-Border Biosphere Reserve "Eastern Carpathians" with the participation of the Bieszczady National Park (Poland), the National Park "Poloniny" (Slovakia) and the Uzhansky National Park (Ukraine) took place at the Uzhansky National Park.

During the meeting, which was opened by the director of the Uzhansky National Park Victor Byrkovych, the parties discussed the important issue of cross-border cooperation between the three countries within the "Eastern Carpathians" reserve.

So, after almost 20 years of talks, the project of the opening of the crossing point "Lubnia-Volosate" on the Ukraine-Poland border is becoming a reality.

Note: Uzhansky National Park is a part of the Cross-Border Biosphere Reserve "Eastern Carpathians" (Poland-Ukraine-Slovakia). The Coordinating Council is the management body of the CBR "Eastern Carpathians" and meets once a year in each country.

The issue of opening a pedestrian crossing point "Lubnia-Volosate" on the Ukrainian-Polish border will promote development of tourism and will improve the socio-economic situation parimarily of Velyky Berezny district. It would also open a new stage in relations between Poland and Ukraine. After all, Transcarpathian region, with 34 kilometers of common border with Poland, still has not a single crossing point. And this limits cross-border cooperation which is sought after on both sides of the border.
