An attempt to smuggle tobacco products across the border was prevented last night at the checkpoint "Dyakove" by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment together with customs officers.
A 57-year-old citizen of Ukraine, who arrived at the checkpoint in a minibus Mercedes Sprinter, tried to smuggle tobacco products. The resident of Chernivtsi was driving Ukrainian workers to Italy.
During the border customs inspection, a cache with 800 packs of cigarettes of various brands was found in the floor of the vehicle.
The minibus and the tobacco products were confiscated from the Ukrainian. The cigarettes were estimated at almost 44 thousand hryvnias, the vehicle was estimated at 230 thousand hryvnias.
