The 6th year student of the Department of Solid State Electronics and Information Security of the UzhNU Faculty of Physics Pavlo Baloh presented Ukraine at the international conference of the Pacific region ceramic scientific societies of "PACRIM 13", which took place in the city of Ginowani (Okinawa, Japan) from October 27 to October 31.

The UzhNU student presented the report "Preparation of Amorphous α-GeS2 Films with Low Carbon Contamination for Sulfide Based Anode in Lithium Ion Battery Application".
This international forum is organized every two years and is dedicated to a wide range of issues related to current developments and new trends in ceramic and related technologies. The PACRIM 13 conference was attended by over 2000 participants over four days, with more than 1500 oral and poster presentations.
Pavlo Baloh’s poster presentation was based on the results of a scientific work being carried out at the SSEIS Department under the direction of Professor Volodymyr Mitsa. The work deals with the analysis of the chemical composition of the surfaces of ultra-thin chalcogenide films for anodes that are synthesized at the department and investigated using modern analytical instruments in collaboration with Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) and the Wigner Physical Research Center (Budapest, Hungary) in the framework of the agreement with the international European consortium CERIC-ERIC.
The conference was organized by the Japanese Ceramic Society with the assistance of other ceramic societies in the Pacific (South Korea, China, Australia and the United States). Leading scientists from all over the world participated in the forum. One the participants of the conference was a graduate of the Physics Department of UzhNU Dr. Roman Selyanchich, currently working at one of Japan’s research institutes.
During the event, the participants communicated informally, which gave them an opportunity to discuss current trends in materials production, materials science, energy sector and other fields of science and technology.
