A Russian pretending to be a Lithuanian was detained in Transcarpathia

At the checkpoint "Tisa", a foreigner tried to cross the border with Hungary with a forged document but was caught. During the check-up of one of the passengers of a car Mercedes with German registration that was leaving Ukraine, the border guards had doubts about his document.
The man submitted for control a travel passport of a Lithuanian citizen. The document was sent for an in-depth examination, during which it was confirmed that it was forged. The passport’s page with background data had been replaced. The man who presented the forged document was detained. During the interview, he admitted that he was in fact a Russian citizen. Screening efforts are currently being conducted to identify the foreigner and find out the circumstances of the case. The perpetrator was brought to administrative responsibility for attempting to cross the state border illegally. Also, a report on the detection of signs of an offense under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, their sale, use of forged documents" was sent to Uzhgorod police department.
