A rescuer going to work saved a house from destruction by fire

Yesterday, the Rescue Service "101" was reported that on Chapaeva street in the town of Velyky Berezny, a house was burning. The call was made by a colleague of local rescuers, ensign of the civil protection service, driver of the 2nd State Fire and Rescue Unit of Velyky Berezny Taras Ripych.

He was going to work and noticed a smoke coming out of a private house. The man rushed to the scene and found out that the attic room of a residential building was on fire. The owners were not at home.

Before the arrival of firefighters, the rescuer took necessary measures to prevent the spread of fire. The firefighters, who arrived on-call, eliminated the fire. Two pieces of equipment and 12 personnel members were engaged. The fire destroyed the ceiling and the roof over the area of about 50 square meters. Also, the fire damaged the roof and the ceiling over 150 square meters.

Thanks to the vigilance and skills of the ensign and his fellow firefighters, the two-storey house and the property was saved from fire.

Nobody was hurt during the fire.

The cause of the fire is to be established. One of the likely causes is violation of fire safety rules when constructing and using the stove heating.

The Office of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region reminds the lion’s share of fires in houses occur due to human negligence, carelessness and disregard for basic rules of fire safety. To prevent fire, always check heating stoves and chimneys, repair them timely. In case of fire, immediately call the rescue service "101".
