An exhibition of original Florentine mosaic by Volodymyr Larionov from Kyiv opened in Uzhgorod Regional Ethnographic Museum.
The author, who has been working with various stones for over ten years, presented about fifty works. The Kyiv designer and architect focuses on developing innovative technology. Starting from the basics of this technique, he replaces the expensive natural stones with other available natural materials that has radically transformed the traditional technique. He keeps improving the technique, and he started from scratch.
Volodymyr Larionov was the first to develop the technique of making pictures using artificial stones not only in Ukraine and admits that those paintings which he does not like never leave the studio.
The idea of working in this technique originated when the master saw the works of Italian masters – the founders of Florentine painting.
Unlike the Italians, in his works he uses (instead of the natural mosaic plates) alabaster. He says that it is much easier to work with and, depending on the imagination, pictures can be painted with different colors and patterns.
The personal exhibition of original Florentine mosaic by Volodymyr Larionov will run until January 10, 2015.
