Recently the re-edition of Jan Antonin Bati’s work "Let’s build a country for 40 million people" has been published by the Club of T.H.Masaryk in Uzhgorod. Club Chairman Ivan Latko said that the book received a second life thanks to the original published in the town of Zlin in 1937. The original edition has been presented to the Club by Czech friends from Ihlava.
The book is interesting because it describes Czechoslovakia as a multinational and multi-faceted country, which "should be the richest in Europe."
The author saw the prosperity of Czechoslovakia primarily in the development of transport and communication, in particular, the book refers to the intention to build airports in Mukachevo, Khust and even Solotvino and to use rivers for transportation, in particular, to build river ports in Uzhgorod, Vynogradiv and Solotvino.
The publication is interesting because it was published just a few months before the split of Czechoslovakia. So it turns out that Jan Antonin Bati’s research on how to make Czechoslovakia a country with a population of 40 million people was useless.
