A new agreement between Ukraine and Slovakia needs to be signed to resume full operation of the airport in Uzhgorod – Robert Horvat

The issue of the efficient functioning of Uzhgorod airport is critical for increase of tourist attractiveness of the city and the region. This is what MP Robert Horvat draws attention to. To implement these ambitious plans, government agencies must sign international agreements.

Another step in this direction was made today, "Colleagues and I appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine about the situation that has developed about the operation of the International Airport "Uzhgorod".

The airfield "Uzhgorod" is located directly on the state border of Ukraine and Slovakia, which requires additional approval procedures for flight operations.

It should be noted that the International Airport "Uzhgorod" was included in the State program for the development of airports until 2023. The State Regional Development Fund for 2017 provides for the implementation of the project for overhaul of the airfield runway totaling UAH 13.3 million.

Given the strategic importance of the airfield, in order to resume its proper functioning and increase the total passenger traffic, it is necessary to take a number of immediate measures and ensure the signing of a new agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Slovak Republic" – Robert Horvat on his page on Facebook.
