A Frenchman, who had crossed the border illegally, was detained near Chop

Last night, a 21-year-old French citizen, who had crossed the state border from Slovakia to Ukraine without border control, was arrested at the railway checkpoint "Chop (Strazh)".

 Border guards received a report about a person captured by CCTV cameras from the colleagues from Slovakia. They immediately sent a response team from the department "Tisa" to the specified area. The border patrol found an unknown person on the railway track of the checkpoint. The offender, who was riding a bicycle in the direction of Chop, was arrested and taken to the border guard unit. The guy had a Czech citizen ID card. He explained that he was heading to Kyiv as a tourist, but did not take into account that Ukraine and Slovakia were separated by the state border.

In order to clarify the circumstances of the offense and bring him to administrative responsibility, the offender was taken to a temporary detention center of the Chop border guard detachment. He will be tried for illegal crossing of the state border in court, after which he will be returned to the territory of Slovakia according to the readmission procedure.
