A foreigner, going home through Transcarpathian customs office with tobacco “souvenirs”, lost his car

At the customs post "Luzhanka" of the Transcarpathian customs office, an attempt of cigarette smuggling to the EU was prevented.

On Wednesday night, a Hungarian citizen, moving home, planned to cross the border by a car Renault with foreign registration.

Arriving at the checkpoint, the citizen reported that he was not transporting any goods and items hidden from customs control. However, taking into account the risks, customs officers sent the car to the box for in-depth inspection. As a result, under the lining of the vehicle and the passenger doors of the salon, they found tobacco products "Philip Morris" with excise stamps of Ukraine. The total number of the found cigarettes was 250 packs, their value was 5,750 UAH.

Thus, the foreigner committed actions aimed at moving goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control through the use of means impeding the detection of such goods.

These actions contain signs of violation of customs regulations referred to in Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine. Based on Article 511 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, under the report on violation of customs rules, the tobacco products and the vehicle made in 2011 estimated at more than 270,700 UAH were confiscated.
