A decade long path of art (PHOTOS)

On May 20, a solo exhibition of the artist from Irshava district Vasyl Bobita opened in the "Uzhgorod" gallery.

A graduate of Uzhgorod College of Applied Arts, Vasyl Bobita has participated in national exhibitions back in his student and postgraduate years. In the financially shaky 90s, he had to go to work abroad and there was no time for art then, the artist says, but, fortunately, it happened so that he was able to return to his favourite occupation.

Thus, it is the first large-scale presentation of the mature artist’s works. 32 works created over the past two years are only a carefully selected part of his ouevre. It is noticeably dominated by landscapes. "I love Transcarpathian nature, it is made for artists. – Vasyl Bobita says. – However, what is depicted in my paintings not always can be found in reality, it is rather a composed image, more felt than seen."

Also, the painter said that he is now mastering a different technique and hopes to present new works in Uzhgorod soon. The premieres will also be anticipated by the artistic community that has already positively assessed the creative progress of the artist.

The Head of the Department of Culture of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration also shared his impressions of what he saw: "Firstly, the works themselves evoke admiration: they are harmonic, warm, rich, very well convey the magical relationship between color and mood, feeling. – Yuriy Hleba says. – Secondly, which I personally am happy about, Vasyl Bobita is my countryman and I’m glad that Irshava district once again confirmed that it has talents."

The exhibition will last until June 3, the Department of Culture of the RSA informs.
