Today, February 13, about 6.40, near Mukachevo a fatal accident happened. According to preliminary reports, a 49-year-old woman who was riding a bicycle in the direction of Mukachevo, was crossing the road near the pedestrian crossing. The driver of the car Skoda Fabia, which was also moving toward Mukachevo, could not avoid hitting her. The woman was thrown on the oncoming traffic lane, where she was run over by a truck. The woman died on the spot.
According to the truck driver, he braked sharply when he saw a body on the road. As a result, the cars that were moving behind him rammed his truck.
The Skoda Fabia was driven by the head of one of district police departments.
The prosecutor of Mukachevo Ruslan Bilovar with deputies and investigative team immediately went at the scene.
At present, all victims have had their blood tested to determine the alcohol content. Medics will also determine the severity of injuries received by participants of the accident.
Now prosecutors of Mukachevo have included in the Unified register of pre-trial investigation the data on the above accident with the pre-classlification of the criminal offense under Part 2 of Art.286 of the Criminal Code (violation of traffic safety or rules of transport operation by persons driving a vehicle that caused the victim’s death or caused serious bodily injury –
punishable by imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles up to 3 years).
