Yesterday, February 21, a resident of Uzhgorod appealed to the city police. The woman works as a sewer at one of the city enterprises. She lives in a dorm. In the morning, she went to work, and when she returned home, she found out that the door to her apartment was broken and 3 mobile phones, 2 tablets and a DVD-top box had been stolen from the room.
Officers of Uzhgorod criminal police started the investigation. Law enforcers found out that their "old friend" lives in the same dormitory. This 19-year-old resident of Uzhgorod, despite his young age, has been brought to criminal responsibility for car theft. Then the court, given the young age of the thief, passed a suspended sentence. Now the man can go to prison for real as burglary is a felony that is punished by imprisonment for 3 to 6 years.
As the young man admitted, he waited until the neighbor from the first floor had left home and entered the room after breaking the door. He already sold some of the stolen equipment worth about UAH 5,000.
The physical evidence was seized and after the examination will be returned to the owner.
The criminal proceedings have been opened over this incident under Part 3 of Art.185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft, coupled with breaking and entering). During the preliminary investigation, the involvement of the defendant in other similar crimes in the city will be checked.
