73rd anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II was celebrated in Uzhgorod (PHOTOS)

The regional and the city officials, representatives of veterans’ organizations, heads of law enforcement agencies, military, diplomats and public of the region traditionally laid flowers to three monuments: "Ukraine to the Liberators" on the Ukrainian-Slovak border, "To Transcarpathian volunteers – the participants of the Second World War" on Cyril and Methodius square, as well as to the Memorial Complex on the Hill of Glory.

The last location was the most crowded, hundreds of people gathered here to honor the heroes who died on different fronts. At first, they laid flowers to the graves of the Transcarpathians, who were killed in the ATO on the Donbas, then the solemn procession marched down the alley with the graves of the soldiers that fell during the Second World War. After the laying of flowers to the eternal flame, the participants honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence, and there was a festive fireworks to the sounds of the Ukrainian anthem.  
Celebrations on the occasion of the Day of Victory over Nazism in the Second World War took place in all districts of the region.
