4th Academy of Integrated Urban Development has finished in Uzhgorod (PHOTO)

As we informed,, the Academy of Integrated Urban Development took place in Uzhgorod. The theme of this year’s conference was "Integrated Urban Development – culture and cultural heritage as a driver of urban development." The choice of the theme was not random, because, as noted by the organizers, in many Ukrainian cities, the historic architectural heritage, unfortunately, is in poor condition and can not be used effectively. There is a creative potential among urbanists, which brings economic development. But there is a lack of methods, expertise or experience to use this potential for sustainable urban development. Therefore, the 4th Academy of Integrated Urban Development was dedicated to the historical heritage of cities and the creative sector.

As for the results of the work, the organizers will sum up the findings of all four groups, working in the Academy.The recommendations of the first three working groups will be then handed over to the city authorities so that experts could work in specific areas. With regard to the recommendations of the fourth group, they will be generalized with representatives of cities – members of the Academy, and later sent to the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine with a proposal to amend the legislation on the protection of cultural heritage.
