2501 persons in Transcarpathia suffer from ARVI and influenza

According to the head of the epidemic monitoring and sanitary protection department of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in Transcarpathian region Victoria Dyordyay, during the 14th calendar week of 2014, 2501 persons have turned to health care institutions of the region about the ARVI and influenza, that is 529 less compared to the previous week of the year. 1569 of the diseased (62.7%) are children under 17 years. 8.2% of the total of cases (207 people) were hospitalized, including 152 (73.4%) children.

The incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections among the population of the region is 19.9 per 10 thousand people, which is 42.7% below the epidemic threshold. In the 14th calendar week, the incidence of influenza and ARVI in the city of Uzhgorod and the city of Mukachevo, V.Berezny, Uzhgorod, Svalyava, Beregovo and Khust districts exceed the average level in the region. 

According to virological studies, during the current week, viruses of parainfluenza (62,5%), RS viruses (25.0%) and influenza (12.5%) have been circulating in the region.

Specialists of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in the region continue to monitor the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections in the region.
