10 most romantic places in Transcarpathia (PHOTOS)

In Ukraine, there are places truly unique in their beauty, one of which is Transcarpathia. The guide of Ukraine "The City" picked the 10 most beautiful and romantic places of the Silver Land.  

The Synevyr Lake, Synevyrska Glade

The Synevyr Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes of Transcarpathia. Located at an altitude of 989 m above sea level, 30 kilometers from Mizhhirya, it has the depth of 10-12 m, maximum depth of 22 meters, an area of ​​about 4.5 hectares.

The Schönborn Palace, Chynadiyevo

The hunting castle of Schönborns built in 1890 in Chynadiyevo is considered the gem of Transcarpathian monuments, one of the most beautiful buildings in Ukraine. The Palace is unique, built according to an interesting design, and it is surrounded by a large landscaped park of 19 hectares, founded in the early XIX century. In the second half of the last century it was converted into a sanatorium, and since then anyone can take a rest in the old building, walk in the beautiful park with a large pond, old and rare trees.

Linden avenue, Uzhgorod

The longest linden avenue in Europe. The quay is the perfect romantic place in Uzhgorod, so you can see a lot of young people there. If you want to spend an evening with your significant other, make sure you spend your time on the quay.

The Narcissus Valley, Khust

The Narcissus Valley is located in the Kireshi tract near the city of Khust, at an altitude of 180-200 meters above sea level. It is the world’s largest natural array of narcissus – a rare plant listed in the Red Book. 

The Shypit Falls, Pylypets

In a picturesque corner of the Carpathian Mountains, near the village of Pylypets, there is a wonderful Shypit waterfalls. This unique natural formation becomes the most beautiful in spring, when melting snow streams in large cascades.

The "Palanok" Castle, Mukachevo

The "Palanok" Castle is located on the 68-meter-high mountain. If you happen to be in Mukachevo, visit the mysterious world of the castle legends. Here you can take an interesting tour with a guide who will tell you about the mysterious legends, battles and raids, princes and princesses who owned the castle. Also, there is one of the most popular museums in the castle.

The Schönborn Park, Turya Pasika

The entrance gate of the park built on the old foundations of a XVIII century building symbolize a portal between the Austro-Hungarian era of Transcarpathia and modern Ukraine. The Schönborn Park is located between the mountains the Turyanska valley around the Tur Lake with an island in the form of the borders of Austro-Hungary in 1867, where you can get on the raft. Each element of the gardening has some symbolic value.

The St. Miklos Castle, Chynadiyevo

The Chynadiyevo Castle is a monument famous for medieval architecture. The castle is called Saint-Miklos in honor of the village, the construction began in the middle of the XIV century, but the castle, despite its defensive function existed for over 600 years!

The Nevytsky Castle, Nevytske

The Nevytsky Castle is one of the oldest buildings of this type in Ukraine that have survived to the present day. It is located between the villages of Kamyanytsya and Nevytske in Uzhgorod district, 12 km away from the Uzhgorod. As the castle was built with defense purposes, it is located on a hill on the left bank of the Uzh river. So, it is not difficult to find it.

The Mustard Seed Lane, Uzhgorod

The "Mustard Seed" Lane was created in 2010 for family recreation. The colorful shopping passge in the center of Uzhgorod is 70 meters long. The pedestrian lane connects Koryatovich Sq. and Fedynets street. The architecture of the Mustard Lane, designed by M. Kolodko, is a typical for Uzhgorod old style of 1930s. Along the passage, there are cafes and pastry shops, small shops, children’s hair salon and the coffee museum. 

But remember, there is no universal romantic place, everyone can find such place anywhere.
