Uzhgorod “autumn”: maybe they should do something? (PHOTOS)

As you know, chestnuts in Uzhgorod are ill. The culprit, as experts have repeatedly informed, is the chestnut leaf miner. The pest began massively damage Uzhgorod chestnuts over 10 years ago. And since then, the dicease has been spreading.

Several years ago, following the trees on Kyivska embankment, where "autumn" with a typical leaf fall, came already in July, the trees in the Bozdosh park also got sick. Chestnuts in neighborhoods – for example, on Bercheni street and in downtown, – also have suffered from the pest.

And this how the chestnuts, that are supposed to decorate one of the prettiest little parks of the city – near the school No. 4 – look like.   Beautiful chestnuts have almost entirely faded and lost their leaves. The park is covered with damaged leaves. And then we recall – when thay just started talking about the spread of the chestnut pest, experts emphasized: the disease will affect new trees because of fallen infected leaves spreading in the city. Experts asked the city government to clean Kyivska embankment thoroughly and collect the leaves under sick chestnuts, where the leaf miner "hides". But the pest continued spreading in Uzhgorod. And, apparently, will continue to spread further… Maybe they should take care about the consequences of untimely Uzhgorod "autumn" and remove the leaves from diseased chestnut trees?.. Earlier, experts warned that the leaf miner can affect other species of trees. It would be a shame to let the famous Uzhgorod linden and plane tree get sick.
