Transcarpathian MPs demand to ban imports from Russia

People’s Deputy of Ukraine Robert Horvat wrote this on his Facebook page:

"The Parliament is preparing for the second reading of the bills №8487 and №8488, which are intended to regulate the situation with the import and use of used cars with foreign registration on the territory of Ukraine. Many of the proposals submitted to these bills concern, among other things, raising the rates of excise tax on imports of motor vehicles from Russia.

Instead, Vasyl Petyovka, Valeriy Lunchenko and I believe that we need not to restrict but to completely prohibit the import of vehicles from the aggressor country, and therefore we appealed to the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman with a proposal to add the vehicles originating from the Russian Federation to the list of goods that are prohibited for import into the customs territory of Ukraine. The colleagues and I consider such actions to be appropriate and logical in the current circumstances.

At the same time, we drew attention of the Head of the Government to the need for extension of the Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 1146 "On import duty rates for goods originating in the Russian Federation" and No. 1147 "On the prohibition of the import of goods originating from the Russian Federation into the customs territory of Ukraine." These resolutions will expire on January 1, 2019. In our opinion, they should be extended."
