Tomorrow, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin will visit Uzhgorod

As we already reported, tomorrow, Pavlo Klimkin and his team will visit Transcarpathia.

This was announced by the Foreign Minister himself on his Facebook page:

"Tomorrow, I will visit Uzhgorod. The Society of Hungarian Culture in Transcarpathia invited me to a meeting. ‘Your presence will be an honor for us,’ the letter reads.

To tell the truth, the situation is pretty funny. Because the chairman of the same Society, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Mr. Laszlo Brenzovych, recently appealed to the Prosecutor General, Yuriy Lutsenko demanding to prosecute me for "deliberately provoking national enmity", which he saw in my recent statements on the Hungarian topic.

But I hope they will still be glad to meet with me. Personally, I am very happy about the upcoming meeting. I like frank conversations eye to eye, they are much more useful and honest than populist accusations.

It is especially important for me to talk with those Ukrainian Hungarians, whose interests are directly affected the current tensions between Budapest and Kyiv.

I am ready to have a tough conversation with my critics and opponents.

Yes, I am debating with the official Budapest about the teaching of the state language, I strongly condemned the practice of mass distribution of Hungarian passports (and clandestine at that, which is particularly annoying to me), but I haven’t made any attacks against the Hungarian community! On the contrary, I have always argued that there is no reason to blame Hungarians with dual citizenship of treason or separatism.

I am absolutely convinced that Budapest’s current stance on language really hurts our Hungarians. For example, Mr. Brenzovych speaks Ukrainian and has become a people’s deputy, and what prospects do the boys and girls from Beregovo have, if after graduation they can not utter two sentences in the state language?

And I call on to resolve the situation with dual citizenship in such a way that would not hurt people, who already have two passports. After all, I was the first to suggest a discussion about the ways to solve the problem, and even consider the prudent and balanced use of dual citizenship. But my critics do not notice this for some reason.
Well, as for Russia, I hope that nobody doubts that it has been and will keep trying to take advantage of the situation in Transcarpathia. And this creates a fundamental danger for Ukraine, for Hungary and for the entire Europe."
