Istvan Udut, the had of Uzhgorod Plast Branch, briefly told about the history of the annual tradition of passing on the fire on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays by scouts. He stressed that, unfortunately, there is no peace in our country right now, so it is especially important to have peace in our hearts, and the Bethlehem fire will remind us that all that we do, all the decisions we make must bring peace.
The fire was passed from the Plast members’ lantern to the lantern of the Uzhgorod City Council Secretary Andriana Sushko, who presides over the session today.
She thanked the guests from Plast on behalf of the Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv, the deputies and all city council employees. The children were also given sweet gifts.
