A court hearing was held to extend the term of detention for an active member of an interregional criminal group, that was shipping psychotropic substances to Transcarpathia and was detained by law enforcement in Lviv district on November 5.
On December 24, judge of the Uzhgorod City and District Court Vitaliy Malyuk considered a request of the prosecutors to extend the pre-trial restraint in the form of detention against a suspected 48-year-old resident of Dnipro, Serhiy Makarov.
The court left the suspected drug dealer S. Makarov in custody for another 2 months, namely until February 24, 2020.
As it was reported earlier, on November 5, 2019, during the transfer of a large batch of drugs in Lviv region, the police detained an active member of an interregional criminal group, who had been regularly transporting psychotropic substances to Transcarpathia.
Transcarpathian law enforcement officials found out that the persons were involved in the distribution of narcotic drugs in several regions. On November 5, 2019, 48-year-old resident of Dnipro S. Makarov tried to deliver a batch of methamphetamine to Transcarpathia. The dealer was detained in the village of Vynnyky, Lviv region, where he was supposed to exchange goods with another member of the group whose whereabouts are currently being established.
During the inspection of the car Audi Allroad which the suspect was driving, the police found a package with psychotropic substance methamphetamine weighing 500 grams.
On the same day, the resident of Dnipro, who is reasonably suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code, that is, sale of psychotropic substances in a particularly large amount by a group of persons, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the CPC of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention center.
